The Lonely Song of the Kōkako – A Collaborative Movie with Maunga Iti and Moana

Maunga Iti and Moana worked together to create a movie about the Kōkako bird.

We had been learning about the extinct Huia bird and wanted to shine a light on another native New Zealand bird at risk of extinction, helping to raise awareness and understanding.

We invite you to leave a positive, thoughtful, and constructive comment for our students. Your feedback not only celebrates their efforts but also helps them grow as confident learners.

Minecraft Taonga

Here is a movie students in Team Maunga created.  A group of students took charge and created a story board of what they wanted the movie to be about.  They then used stop motion to create the main scenes for this movie.  With support they then used Greenscreen and many students from within our Maunga space to record things that made their whanau Taonga to them.  Here is our movie.

Te Taonga o Te Ngahere

Here is a movie Team Maunga create.  It uses a combination of Te Reo and english, to talk about creatures that are native to NZ and that are Taonga.  We used Chatterpix to make our pictures of our choosen creatures come to life and to share our facts.  We have been learning about lots of animals that are Taonga to NZ as part of our lead up to our Auckland trip and also as part of us wanting to be Kaitiaki to our forests.

We hope you enjoy it.

Mammals at Auckland Zoo
