As a lead up to our Auckland trip we have been learning about the different Ectotherm creatures that will be at the Auckland Zoo. These are creatures that are generally cold blooded.

This week we got to do a fun activity aimed at learning what birds will be at the Auckland Zoo when we visit in Week 8. For this activity we had to go on a safari and locate the different birds (small cut outs) of the birds that would be at the zoo. We had to look up and down, and even under things to find the different birds.

Maunga Iti have been learning about the Huia bird. We read a story by Julian Stokoe called 12 Huia Birds explaining how they became extinct. We listened to an interview with the author and he explained how he wrote the book to help us remember the Huia bird and to remind us the importance of looking after our native birds.

Although this is not Maunga students mahi, but rather a collection of movies created by students working in Tuakana-Teina groups. Here are a few Matariki 4 shot movies that were created as part of our Matariki day celebrations.
We learned about the different types of shots, practiced taking short clips of these based around choosen topics. We then pieced them together using iMovie, where we added titles, music and muted or changed the volume of the sound from the video itself.
